Surrey, UK – October 12, 2021 – Following its acquisition by Rheem in September 2021, global HVAC manufacturer Friedrich Air Conditioning has released its new 2021 range of Hazardgard models. Founded in 1883, the company manufactures specialty air treatment products, including ATEX-certified HVAC units for hazardous environments.

Friedrich’s 2021 50 Hz and 60 Hz models – the ATEX Model SH20N50AT and SH24N30AT, respectively – bring improved performance and energy efficiency. The 60 Hz SH24N30AT boasts a larger cooling capacity of 7.03/6.95 kW (versus 6.8 kW), while both new models offer an increased energy efficiency ratio (EER). High EER ratings can quickly convert into large financial savings, and Friedrich’s commitment to durability and reliability means less money spent on repairs, replacement and maintenance.

For more than 30 years, industrial professionals have trusted Hazardgard to deliver safe and reliable cooling in the most extreme conditions. Its HVAC units are specifically engineered to perform in the harshest conditions, including laboratories, control rooms, petrochemical sites, storage areas and other enclosures where volatile flammable liquids or gases are handled or used within enclosed containers or systems.

Friedrich has a long history of innovation, bringing the first Wi-Fi-connected through-the-wall air conditioner to the market in 2019, when it was also named “Supplier of the Year” by premier group AD HVAC.

In addition to a hermetically sealed refrigeration system and gold-plated thermostat contacts for corrosion resistance, the 2021 Hazardgard AT models also feature a steel enclosure for solid state relays for a longer operational lifetime and reduced sensitivity to operating environment factors such as mechanical shock, vibration, humidity and external magnetic fields.

ATEXOnline, an authorised Friedrich distributor that provides ATEX-certified products globally, is among the first to stock the 2021 Hazardgard product line.

“As a long-time, trusted supplier of Friedrich HVAC units, we’re excited to introduce our customers to Hazardgard’s new line of air conditioners. We’ve always prided ourselves on working with established partners who offer only the best options on the market, and with its new offerings, Friedrich continues to cement itself as the leading manufacturer of cooling units for hazardous and potentially explosive environments,” said Tom Day, Development Manager at ATEXOnline.

“With Friedrich having recently been purchased by Rheem, itself a reputed global manufacturer of HVAC equipment, we’re looking forward to seeing continued growth for this legendary manufacturer.”
