It’s kind of an enjoyment to visit gardens with Chinese operas. From Oct 1 to Oct 7, the 5th Chinese Opera Culture Week at the Beijing Garden Expo brings a cultural feast for citizens.

It has turned into autumn in Beijing. Walking in the garden, you feel as if you were in a world of Chinese Opera.

In local gardens like Beijing Garden, Jinzhong Garden, Min Garden and Yijiangnan Garden, many well-known troupes inside and outside of Beijing make an appearance by turns, bringing Peking opera, Pingju opera, Hebei Clapper opera and Silk string opera for the viewers.

The stages in each garden combine Chinese opera with horticulture, real objects and viewers perfectly. It provides the audience with an immersive and interactive experience by exploring the innovative integration of Chinese Opera and gardens.

The opera culture week also represents an opportunity for amateur performers of Peking Opera to showcase themselves.

Apart from the eight stages for Chinese Opera fans along Yinxing Street, visitors in the garden could experience many interactive activities, such as parent-child DIY crafts, Sheng roles and Dan roles’ movements performing and opera rhythmic gymnastics.

Running children busy with affixing a seal to win prizes have become a scene for others. ‘I came with some of my classmates. We didn’t expect it to be so much fun! We can not only join the activities but also win prizes. That’s cool!’ said a student of the fifth’s grade.

In addition, some selected Chinese opera shows will be broadcast live online via multiple platforms in order to let more people appreciate the charm of Chinese opera culture.
